The TestMaster – The new SuperHero in agile software development

Note: For the sake of readability, we use some terms with gender connotations only in a single, general gender form. The following term is defined by us here as gender-neutral for the entire text, which thus includes genders of the diverse, female and/or male sex: TestMaster.

As a tester in a large, agile project, you’ve probably already thought that the project could progress faster if someone kept an eye on the big picture. That it would make sense to have a central person in testing who not only recognizes and eliminates test impediments, but also manages test data across teams and coordinates test activities. Someone who keeps an eye on all test-related issues and knows the problems first-hand through his/her work experience in testing.

In traditional software development, these tasks are sometimes performed by test managers. In agile projects, this gap can of course be filled by the testers in the teams – either by individuals or by associations such as “communities of practice”. Nevertheless, our experience shows that there is often no one who can or wants to take on these tasks.

We are introducing a new role for Quality Assurance: The TestMaster has a strong background and hands-on experience in the different areas of testing and is the contact person for all teams regarding test related topics. TestMaster also synchronizes and coordinates the testing activities of all teams, enabling you and your project to achieve your goals faster and more effectively.

Revolutionize corporate learning and learning coaching with the help of agile methods!

As part of agile learning coaching, you accompany learners on their individual learning journey and help them to develop their full potential. As an agile learning coach, you will become a key figure in an agile learning culture and a catalyst for digital transformation in a learning organization.

What is an agile learning coach?

What distinguishes agile learning from traditional learning? How does an agile learning coach actively support digitalization? We have summarized all the important information for you here:

Agiles Lernen vs. klassisches Lernen

01 Agile learning
vs. traditional learning

Traditional learning is structured and static. It follows a set curriculum with clear steps. Teaching content and methods are determined in advance and remain constant over longer periods of time. Agile learning, on the other hand, is flexible and adapts to changing needs and requirements.

Agiles Coaching vs. agiles Lerncoaching

02 Agiles coaching vs.
agile learning coaching

As an agile coach, you focus on the optimization of agile work processes, team dynamics and the application of agile principles in project management. You therefore focus on processes. You are also more method-oriented and use agile methods and tools such as Scrum, Kanban or Lean to support teams in the implementation of their tasks and projects. As an agile learning coach, you focus on the personal and collective development of learners, support the development of learning strategies, reflect on learning successes and promote continuous learning. So you focus on the learners themselves. To this end, you will draw on pedagogical, psychological and agile approaches to help learners develop self-organization, problem-solving skills and motivation to learn.

FAQs

If you follow the training path to become an agile learning coach, you will acquire sound knowledge in the areas of learning theory and pedagogy, coaching and learning support as well as agility. You can apply what you have learned in practical exercises and exchange ideas with other participants in our Community of Practice. As an agile learning coach, you will become a key figure in an agile learning culture.

Learning coaching offers learners individual support aimed at achieving their learning goals and developing effective learning strategies. Learning objectives are defined together and regularly checked to see whether they have been achieved. As a learning coach, you teach effective learning strategies and techniques to optimize learning and improve performance. Learning coaching is therefore primarily about developing skills in areas such as self-motivation, concentration and time planning.

The agile learning approach places the learner at the center. Personal responsibility and self-organization are very important. This also means that learners are free to choose their own learning objectives, materials, formats and settings. Learning is therefore individualized, needs-oriented and practical. Personal and individual support from an agile learning coach is also a key element. Other important components of the agile learning approach are collaborative and cooperative learning units and the division of the learning process into manageable, iterative phases. Continuous feedback and evaluations ensure rapid adaptability.

You will receive good training from qualified trainers who are successful and experienced learning coaches themselves, and our experts can pass on their specialist knowledge, practical experience and insights into the agile learning coaching field and provide you with valuable insights and skills as a prospective agile learning coach. Feedback from participants shows us that the training really does offer added value and successfully prepares graduates for their agile learning coaching role.

“In my view, QualityLearning is the personnel development of tomorrow – away from rigid measures and frameworks and towards a truly individualized approach in which – not just on paper – the learner is the focus of the learning process.

It offers organizations and individuals an effective opportunity to get fit for the future and to think about lifelong learning in concrete terms and away from buzzwords.”

“The training to become an agile learning coach gave me a lot of technical and methodological input, I was able to immerse myself in the various levels of agile learning, gain real-life experience and take away so much more. Especially in the training and learning environment, with my goal of breaking new and modern ground, the training as an agile learning coach is an absolute enrichment.”

Olaf Beyer

Head of Procurement & Purchasing Service and Training Manager, censhare GmbH

“In my opinion, the role of an agile learning coach perfectly captures the spirit of agility and meets the needs of companies and employees for support in the course of digital transformation and the introduction of agile processes.

My role as a learning and business coach at Randstad does not focus exclusively on increasing the learning success of my colleagues, but rather encompasses all areas of a fulfilled employee life, for example by improving the overall satisfaction and confidence of employees through a higher experience of self-efficacy.”

Astrid Römer

Senior Consultant (Operational Personnel Services and Consulting), Business Coach (Personnel Development), Randstad Deutschland GmbH & Co.KG

“The training as a learning coach gave me a lot of technical and methodological input that I was able to implement immediately in my day-to-day work. It has also enabled me to build up a clear mindset within which conceptual work can be developed in a targeted manner. As QualityMinds lives and breathes learning coaching and agile learning, this has created a high level of authenticity in all phases and areas of the training.”

Christine Stanek

Head of Training, OPED GmbH

“I have the feeling that my training as an agile learning coach is helping to move personnel development forward. The new, agile mindset of learning turns away from the learning experience from school, training and university and supports the individual development of learners. As an agile learning coach, I am a reliable learning companion, facilitator, reminder, motivator, source of inspiration, professional curator, networker, feedback provider and reflection partner at eye level.

In the agile learning coach training itself, learning already takes place in an agile learning setting – independently and self-directed on a learning platform, among other things. The platform allows users to decide for themselves what they want to learn, when, by when and in what order.”
