It aims to enhance the safety of vulnerable road users (VRUs), such as pedestrians and cyclists, in automated traffic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project focuses on developing a real-time injury prediction method using machine learning algorithms and AI techniques. By analyzing vehicle-mounted video data and digital human models, the system determines injury risks. These predictions will support risk minimization strategies for automated vehicles, contributing to safer and more efficient traffic. For data generation, the team analyzed numerous videos of relevant accident scenarios, such as dashcam footage from South Korea. Using Data Science, they extracted typical movement patterns and estimated human body postures from the video data.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"367\" data-end=\"546\">The data included poses, skeletal data, and movement classes. This was done based on an open-source real-time simulation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"246\" data-end=\"456\">This included the specification and execution of accident scenarios in the demonstrator and the calculation of a proposal to correct the vehicle&#8217;s control system in order to reduce injury probabilities.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"tab hidden\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"0-2\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"tab-content\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"left-element\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"no-margin\"><strong>QualityMinds trained, evaluated, and integrated the AI models into the test environment.<\/strong><\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"text-element-wrapper\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"text-element\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"\" data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"422\">QualityMinds explored whether machine learning models could improve the prediction quality of simpler 3D engines to match that of finite element simulations. They developed ML models for real-time injury prediction and integrated them into a virtual driving simulator to test real-time assessments across various scenarios. The simulations were demonstrated in a virtual, interactive environment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"424\" data-end=\"581\">Thanks to the ML models, the lowest achievable injury risk could be determined, and the safest steering path for the vehicle could be
